Hit Miss
What happens if you accidentally miss the toilet and hit the wall?

I am just learning how to use the toilet, so I am kind of bad at my aiming. I usually miss the bowl completely, and hit the walls and the carpet and my face. It stains and it is really embarassing. Any advice?

Yeah, the advice is to go outside. THat way you don't have to be embarrassed. Just don't get caught doing it. :-)

Good luck,

m

Hit Miss

It's not the “top Hits” We’ve Forgotten From the Past

I want to talk a little about forgotten music. Just recently I came across some Top 40’s Radio Surveys and was reminded of songs that simply got me excited. I have been trying the last few years to collect songs from my past. I was a teen in the 70’s and I simply think that the late 60’s and 70’s were the best times for music, at least pop music in modern history. The ideas were so fresh, and the artist were so creative. Today, many artists become popular because the promoters simply promote them to fame, and so much of the music either sounds the same or is some remake of the old stuff. There was just so much diversification back then. Even on the pop charts, you might hear “Ina-Godda-davida” by Iron Butterfly back to back with “Candy Man” by Sammy Davis Jr. WOW, That’s just messed up isn’t it? But what fun it was listening to the songs. I can remember taking a trip with my family when I was about 11 years old, and keeping track of how many songs were played in a row that I liked. Unless I can find a good oldies channel today the best I might do is get two in a row I like, and that is on a good day.

The problem with the most of the oldies channels today is that they only play the very top hits of the charts. What about all the others? There is a channel that came out a few years ago in my area called “THE RIDE” and they do play a lot of different music. I enjoy it much of the time. But they limit themselves to mostly the older rock. Hey, I’m not complaining, I love it. They filled a great void. But I am still missing all those old pop songs that were not top hits on the chart. What about the song that hit the top 40 charts at 38, and slowly moved up to 24, and them slip back into obscurity? I can’t say for sure I miss them, because many of them I can’t even remember at all. They’re gone. My wife heard one a while back, and quickly called me and told me about it. It was: The Israelites by Desmond Dekker, one of the few artist to make the charts from Jamaica. Oh man that was fun to hear. I listened to it over and over when we finally got it. It was purely by chance that I got to hear it again, because I had totally forgotten about it.

My wife for a long time had been trying to find a song that she could just barely remember. I was a very fast song that just said a lot of information very quickly. We tried looking up every thing we could think of, but just couldn’t get it. The song “video killed the radio star” kept popping up, but that was the wrong song. With the right resources we finally found it. The right name is “Life is a rock” by Reunion. My wife was very happy to finally find it. Are you starting to think back to the not so top hits yet. I am sure you remember the Guess Who very well, but do you remember the small hit they had with “Albert Flasher”? It was really cool to find that one and hear it again. You can actually get a lot of those songs from Amazon for just 99 cents per download, but can you remember the names of all of them? How many of the not so top hits are gone from your mind like they were mine?

There is hope out there. And it is easy to get your hands on too. Do you remember the Top Hits Radio Surveys from back in the 60’s and 70’s? They were top 40’s or top 30’s, and they listed the top hits of the day, as well as the artists. What if you could get you hands on some of them and just go down the hits chart and start remembering? Well you can. There is about 200 of them on a simple CD from 1971 to 1974. Once you remember the names of all the old songs, you simply have to start looking for them from Amazon or what ever your source might be. Not only do the top hits surveys show you the top hits, but some mention the top albums, and they have photos of DJ’s, and some great old ads from that era. All in all, you will have a lot of fun reminiscing. I have more information about them at: www.70stophits.com

I hope you get the chance to remember some of the ones you once loved, that just slipped away.
